Like I remember back in college I helped two friends couch surf for a few weeks/months. One of them I even helped get his GED, cause he was a loser NEET that never finished high school, drove him to work at his temp job at like 2:00 a.m., and even paid for his blood labs because he didn't have insurance.\n\nAnd even after all that I don't even talk to those people anymore. Like I've never been repaid for that assistance either.\n\nMy biggest problem with concepts like mutual aid is that it's just rebranded begging. And personally I don't think the problem is begging (my problems cannot be solved with money so I never ask for it) everyone falls on hard times and shouldn't feel bad for asking for money just in my opinion, but I have a problem with trying to masquerade that they are going to assist you in your time of need.\n\nThat is a false concept. I think you should help the needy just because it's the right thing to do, but I disagree with the idea that you're somehow part of a collective that's going to assist you in exchange. If you believe that you're being sold a lie.\n\nThe person you're assisting doesn't know who you are. you don't even know who the person you're assisting is.\n\nLike all I've wanted was someone to watch my cats and someone to get me a temp j\\*b or contract for six months.
