Do any of you, my fellow deranged fedi schizo soldiers, use SSH over Tor? How usable is it? Is mosh a necessity or can I just yolo it?
The story is usual. I have a server behind a few NATs and I don't want to bother with port forwarding.
@icon_of_computational_sin This sounds extremely schizophrenic
@splitshockvirus i used to run ssh over i2p briefly some years ago. It worked for like two days, maybe. Then it didn't. The latency was atrocious, waaaaay worse than over Tor.
@icon_of_computational_sin I say just use a VPN but I have determined that OpenVPN is just painful when you need to integrate it with your firewall.
@splitshockvirus i might just use WG with an external VPS acting as a relay, but I still wanna have a backup channel. You know, don't wanna be left without access to my server when I'm half-way across the world.
That's literally me in a few hours. I think I understand the appeal of WG now, if it just works like people say it does. I probably will scrap my OVPN when I'm back, I got it to work but only through TCP and pulling out my hair.
@eric @splitshockvirus there are userspace implementations for Wireguard.
The only real problems with it are that lack of autoconfiguration and ease of detection. Otherwise it's pretty good.
